Native American InformationObviously, these are not the only sites on the Web, but they're the best I've found so far. If you know of any that you feel I should include, let me know! When I find more, I'll pass on the info! For those concerned with ecological issues, the Native site is called Honor the Earth. The ecological issues focused on here are presented in the Native perspective. Do you enjoy Native American music? How about Native American Music Resources? They had folks and music here I never heard of. Some I wish I never had. And some I was delighted to find! AIM (which stands for American Indian Movement) has a site which gives you information on their present activities and concerns. Not all of this information is pleasant, but this controversial organization continues to fight for Native American rights. For those of you interested in Native American Prophesies, this site features the Hopi Prophecy. Although what is given is not the complete prophecy (that would just about turn into the Great American Novel), the key points are covered. A petition drive is going on to institute a National Native American Holiday. Almost every president acknowledges the Native, but as of yet, not one single day is given to honor the original American. More information about the drive and it's activities are here. The Smithsonian Museum now has the National Museum of the American Indian. Exciting news for art and history lovers! The graphics are incredible. The site includes upcoming events and great offers. If you are looking to trace your Native American Ancestry but don't know where to start, this is a great resource for you! If you enjoy Native stories, this varied collection is a must! Since the contributors (the general Native community) always has something to say, the variety and number of tales continues to grow. Personally, I always get hungry when on the computer, so I'm sure I'm not the only one with food on the mind. Native American recipes used to be hard to come by, but now they're on the Net! I haven't tried them all yet, but so far, I'm smiling :-) |
